Pienaar van Niekerk is an established South African visual artist whose work can be seen in many collections, galleries and publications.  He has participated in nine solo exhibitions and over fifty-two group exhibitions.  His professional career includes art directing, school teaching and lecturing at university level.  He has dealt with socio-political issues and other typical South African content, engaging mostly with the landscape. 

He is currently working on West Coast seascapes, with particular interest in the local fishermen activities, using the theme of the sea as a treacherous, yet beautiful environment.
